me vs. new york
Ever since I was little I have always loved New York... I have no clue why but I really just feel like a kid in a candy store when I am there, haha. I am from Connecticut but the part that I am from is about a 2 hour drive so I didn't live just down the street from it all.
I spent my birthday weekend in New York volunteering and within that 3/4 day time-span, I would like to proudly say that I mastered the subway and bus system to get to/from Pier 94 and East Harlem. I always thought of the new york city subway to be extremely overwhelming and confusing and the bus?! oh you could forget it. I didn't want any parts of that.
I never really had to wrap my brain around the system because I would just Uber or be with someone who knew what they were doing but thanks to Google Maps, asking for help and being prepared for all scenarios (with screenshots), I did itttt. #smalljoys
When volunteering was all done, I had some down time and did some exploring...
A couple of cool highlights are:
- Some wall art I found in the LES that was so timely!
- Finally trying Baked By Melissa for my birthday cupcakes
- The Pickle Guys (they literally have pickled everything!!! ie. pickled mango - how?! why?!) - I love pickles though and those were definitely good. I need to go back. yum!
- Latte art from Cava Cafe and my birthday devotional.
What a satisfying weekend...Amen!
